"Rugby is the only REAL contact sport on campus. We play in Division 2 Baltimore Region of the Potomac Rugby Union" - Sean Brady
Since it's creation in 1984, the UMBC Rugby Football Club has been defining, charismatic, and an intoxicating force at the university and on the pitch. UMBC players have fire in their hearts, uniting all who have earned their patch.
Anyone is welcome to join, no experience is necessary.
The 2012 team has set lofty goals in our continued pursuit of excellence. On the pitch we settle for nothing less than winning every game we enter both on and off the field. Off the pitch we will look to further increase our involvement on campus, and help to join UMBC and its neighboring communities.
This will be a grueling campaign consisting of five matches and tournaments to be scheduled later. The 2011 team invites all Alumni, friends and family to come cheer us on and share in the excitement.
In the Spring, we play a variety of tournaments and friendly games. Practice is three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at UMBC and will be held at the club house on Walker Field. Games are on Saturdays, and each one consists of two 40-minute halves. We usually play an A side game and a B side game. It's a great way to get in excellent shape and be a part of a team sport. The team functions as both a sport and a social club. So if you're interested in joining, contact one of our members using the information listed on our contacts page. Please make sure to check our website often to see updates about our schedule, practice times, and results.

Worried about not getting any playing time, well don't. Our team has what we like to call a A side and a B side, like the varsity to junior varsity relationship, if you can't play A side we will definitely try to get you in some B side match's!
